This is me with "Juliette Gordon Low" after receiving First Place Downtown St. Louis at Soldiers Memorial Park!! This cake was so much fun to design and work on! I was able to re-live my youth a little and all the wonderful memories I had as a Girl Scout. I think I made it to Cadettes??
It was such a joy to see all the Girl Scouts faces light up when they looked at my cake! I was honored to be invited to this event! I created this cake on Foam Cake Dummies so I then in turn donated the cake back to the Girl Scout Council of St. Louis and they will put it on display in their lobby!!
Thanks Nancy Riemann and also to the Girl Scouts for inviting me!

This is the cake I made for Sarah and Collin's "wedding" on June 8th.
This was probably the lowest budget, most enjoyable, STRESS-FREE wedding in the history of all weddings. My mom's original wedding rings (May 9, 1970) had been put away long ago when my dad bought her a new set for their 25th wedding anniversary (circa 1995) so that Sarah would get them someday when mom was no longer here. Well, Collin apparently conversed with my mom about getting the rings before his trip to Florida over the Easter holiday. He proposed on the beach in Destin, on Good Friday - yes April 6, 2012! Collin, in turn has his Grandpa's wedding ring. Alot of sentiment here.
Sarah did not want a big wedding, needless to say. As a matter of fact, I remember her exact words being I don't want a wedding to cost over $1000. Right. They proved me wrong. These kids did what they wanted, exactly how and when they wanted and it was definitely all about them and no one else's interjections. She was home for a whirlwind 8 days and were married at the courthouse at 3pm Friday, June 8th. We spent about an hour beforehand taking random, fun pictures. Collin's sister Janel was here from MD and she stood up for him. Emily stood up for Sarah and Sarah's best friend Alexis was there for both her friends of many years. The girls and I had such a wonderful, stress free day together. After Sarah and Collin were "hitched" as we kept saying all day, we had a wonderful intimate family dinner together with 40 closest family members. I'm happy and sad all at the same time. Not only is my daughter grown up, but they packed up and moved back to Destin, FL the following day because that is where she is stationed. I got to know Collin really well the past 6 months as many of you know he had been working for me while finishing his degree. God never gave me a biological son, but my daughter has given me the most wonderful son I could possibly ever ask for. I love my kids with all my heart and soul and am counting down the days of the next 2 years until they make their journey back to Missouri where they can hopfully settle down and begin their family.
